FCC Approves E-rate Modernization Along Partisan Lines

Interesting blog, and it has me torn on the issue.  Funding for improving technology in schools seems always a good thing, but on the other hand I think there are more significant gaps in education to address.

  1. Since you're in the school system, I'm interested in what you think the priorities are?

Also, I didn't follow the argument about channeling funds to boost Wi-Fi activities leading to cutbacks in other areas such as broadband availability, etc.
Was that just an unhappy politician?

  2. I am not in the public school system, but I don't mind telling my thoughts. If they have money to spend on WiFi in schools, spend it first on bringing back band and art classes in schools. Many schools have lost these programs due to budget constraints. And I think the argument was that during the following fiscal year school budgets would see the expense of WiFi incorporated in to the existing budget, not added to it.
